New Limited Edition Masterwork - "ILLUSION"

OCTOBER 17, 2022

Introducing "Illusion," a new limited edition masterwork offered in a strict limited edition of twenty-five (25).

"... I came to this area along a small glacial lake initially looking to photograph water patterns, or clouds and mist clearing from some of the nearby peaks. Instead, I just happened to notice what was one of the most interesting scenes I've ever seen. The rain had caused some leaves at their peak of fall color to fall into the shallow waters of this lake. The patters in the sand and turquoise blue water offered the perfect complements. I used a polarizing filter to cut the glare... this entire scene, including the leaves, is underwater... "

New Work Release - "CANADIAN ROCKIES"

NOVEMBER 1, 2023

The Canadian Rockies are at least partly responsible for my enthusiasm for photography. I last visited in 2005 with my wife, a Canon film camera and Sony point-and-shoot. The parks were different back then... I remember going before dawn to the shores of Moraine Lake to watch the sunrise. We were the only ones there for at least an hour. Almost 20 years later, the park has certainly changed, but the Canadian Rockies still have a beauty all their own. Many of these scenes are ones you’ve not likely seen before, or if you have, the perspective is a new one. I hope you enjoy.

New Work Release - "THE SOUTHWEST"

OCTOBER 17, 2022

The American Southwest is an area I’ve explored and photographed more than any other, beginning over 15 years ago.  It is an area with endless photographic possibilities, in every season and in every weather condition.  While small geographically, I covered almost 3000 miles in a week chasing weather patterns and returning to the same locations more than once to get the best light.  The scenes in this new release are ones you’ve not likely seen before, or if you have, the perspective is a new one.  Many are aerial photographs, which has allowed me to explore a whole new world in an area I know well. I hope you enjoy.

New Work Release - "WILD ALASKA"

AUGUST 12, 2021

I am excited to finally release a new body of work from the vast, diverse landscapes of Alaska.  The photographs are quite diverse, spanning 7 months and 3 seasons.  Images were taken in -25F in the middle of winter in the low valleys to 70F at 4500 feet in the middle summer; I shot from a helicopter, seaplane and on the land; you will see snowy landscapes with trees covered in hoar frost, icy glaciers, mountains rising above the clouds, and wildflower laden valleys in the Alaska Range.  Some of the glaciers you see are receding at 100 feet per year, and will not likely be recognizable in the near future. Some of the mountains are so remote, you have probably never seen them photographed before.

New Work Release - "SUBZERO"

JANUARY 7, 2019

The area was barely recognizable from what I remember, but it was beautiful. The nights were cold. Very cold. For many nights, I watched the most breathtaking natural phenomena display in front of me. I camped at the base of the most impressive peaks. I slept through blizzards and hiked through deep snow, over slippery talus rock, across frozen rivers and through dense brush. The result is a rarely seen landscape dressed in snow, lit by the eruption of the aurora, while the earth sleeps.

New Work Release - "LIGHT AND LAND: THE SOUTHWEST"

JANUARY 8, 2018

"I don't see the desert as barren at all; I see it as full and ripe. It doesn't need to be flattered with rain. It certainly needs rain, but it does with what it has, and creates amazing beauty." –Joy Harjo Over the course of several weeks I trekked several thousand miles from the Colorado Plateau, across the hot deserts of Arizona, and into the snowy Sierras and White Mountains of California. The light is transformative here... the sandstone, canyons, cactus gardens, and mountains alike come to life when bathed with beautiful light ... Read More

"REMEMBERING THE COLUMBIA GORGE"

SEPTEMBER 7, 2017

A tragic fire has engulfed the waterfalls, creeks and canyons of the Columbia Gorge, a jewel of the Pacific Northwest. While I remember each of these moments very vividly, they will now only exist in my mind and in my photographs. Many, if not most, of the scenes you see in these photographs will not exist for the human eye for at least another generation.

New Work Release - "On the Bayou: SWAMPLANDS"

DECEMBER 19, 2016

The swamplands of the southern United States are a stark contrast to may other landscapes of this country. With a charm all their own, their subtle beauty is unmistakeable with the proper vision. Autumn is a particularly special time for these areas, with centuries-old cypress trees dressed in fall color, emerging from the mist on the cooler mornings. This newest edition to our Nature and Landscape portfolio features some of the most unique swamp photography you will ever see. Magical light and color that brings a largely disregarded landscape to life, with suggestion and meaning comparable to some of the most breathtaking vistas anywhere.

Photo Essay: WHERE GUESTBOOK 2017

DECEMBER 13, 2016

I’m always thrilled to accept an assignment to photograph the landscapes of northeast Florida. Historic and iconic significance notwithstanding, the old lighthouses of St. Augustine and Amelia Island were an exceptional subject to view through the camera’s lens, both as a representational part of Florida’s landscape, and for their subtle architectural details within.

Book Cover: MOON ZION & BRYCE

SEPTEMBER 22, 2016

I am flattered this incredible guide selected my photograph Emerald Pools to grace its cover. Moon Zion & Bryce highlights the best Zion and Bryce have to offer. Unique trip ideas will take you far off the beaten path and deep into canyons that were once central for the area’s ancient inhabitants; a round-up of the most spectacular vistas and stone pinnacles you can find; and the best family activities available in Utah’s national parks.

AUGUST 22, 2016

"The greatest reward is not what we capture, but rather how we seek it."

You likely have never seen photos of these mountains before. The journey was as fulfilling as the photographs that tell the story, shot from the edge of the earth.

Cover and Photo Essay - Where Guestbook 2011

January 9, 2011

The Where Guestbook is a widely circulated hardcover coffee table style book that is present in most hotel rooms and corporate lobbies in Northeast Florida. This year's edition featured a diverse selection of photographs from northeast Florida.

LIMITED EDITION MASTER prints are exhibition quality, gallery prints produced strictly and exclusively in editions of 200 or fewer. When the edition is sold out, no additional prints will ever be made. The entire process, from capture to print, is worked by hand for each individual order, with every detail overseen and scrutinized by me. Prints are made on the highest quality paper while adhering to the highest standards in the industry. These prints are highly limited, and very exclusive. Each limited edition print captures a unique moment in nature, never to be seen again; your investment in our prints will not only grow as prices rise when prints sell through the edition, but will also provide a lifetime of viewing pleasure. Each Limited Edition Print is registered and shipped with a hand signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity (COA), which guarantees the original work.

Limited edition photographs are offered with the following guidelines:

As a somewhat controversial issue in the digital age, limited edition prints started in the days of film; an artist would make a series of test prints ("artist proofs") prior to printing the edition. The prints from the edition were typically made from the same plate, at the same time. Artist proofs have been considered more valuable, as they reflected the progression of a print prior to its release. In the digital age, limited edition prints are still requested by savvy art collectors and galleries; while the spirit of an edition remains the same, the logistics have changed quite a bit. Photographers nowadays may offer an edition from just a few prints (in some cases, only a single print), to more than a thousand. Due to the divergence from the principles of the film age, the legitimacy of limited editions has been somewhat controversial. For example, is an edition of 2000 really "limited?" Does placing an arbitrary number on prints made seek to artificially inflate value, where value may not otherwise exist? Initially, I had decided to sell all my work as open edition. I felt that limiting the views into nature I strive to make widely available was against my work ethic. At the same time, I had lost sales from clients who would purchase a print only if it were a limited edition. Recently, I changed my mind, and am quite excited about my decision. As many artists have developed their own limited edition structure, I have developed a structure that I feel best balances the exclusivity of the work with my goal to share my art as widely as possible.

LUMACHROME ACRYLIC FACEMOUNTS

After extensive research and testing, I am pleased to announce a partnership with the one of the most experienced and highly regarded printmakers in the country to begin offering all my acrylic facemounts printed with Lumachrome technology. The ultimate in gallery quality display, Face Mounted photographs have a vibrance and depth without equal. This is, without a doubt, the best medium to display your fine art print.

Lumachrome is unparalleled by even Fujiflex in the art of high-end fine art printing. Details appear to emerge in 3D from the depths of the image with the Lumachrome process thanks to the transparency layer that is infused with iridium particles and is encapsulated in a layer suspended between the white poly surface and Acrylic. The face of your prints is mounted to a crystal clear acrylic sheet and backed with a floating recessed frame for hanging.

Brilliant Colors Lasting Over 120Yrs
Superior Gamut vs Traditional Fujiflex Prints
Incredible 3D Depth and Dimensionality
Radiant Glowing Response Under Halogen Lighting

You really have to see with your own eyes how incredible this display really is. The "wow" factor has impressed even my most savvy collectors.
